The Truth About Making Money Online

Everybody wants to make money online, but most people don’t know where to begin. This makes sense because there are hundreds of online business models. Some of them require you to invest your own money to begin, while others are done for free. The businesses which require an investment will be the ones that make you the most money. You just need to choose a business model which supports your current skillset and experience. You also need to have the time available to devote towards the business because it will require a lot of hard work to get it off the ground.

The cheapest way to make money online is to produce free content which has advertisement placements. Google AdSense is the most popular way of doing this. If you have your own website, blog or YouTube channel, you can use Google AdSense. Video or picture ads will show up either on your content or around your content. Anytime someone clicks on an ad, you will make around $0.05 to $0.75. This might not seem like a lot but if you get thousands of visitors looking at your content each day, the clicks will add up quickly. Your only upfront investment will be toward the production of the content itself and driving traffic to it. Although, both can be done for free if you know what you’re doing.

Affiliate marketing is another business model which can pay off quickly. What you do is sign up for an affiliate program like Commission Junction, JVZoo or ClickBank, and try to sell someone else’s products or services. You can make between 5% and 75% on each sale that you generate for the seller, depending on the commission they set. All you need to have are the marketing skills to make this happen. You can market the affiliate products on a blog, YouTube video or website. Just get creative!

The business model which will have the biggest upfront cost is an e-commerce store. If you create your own e-commerce website and purchase wholesale products to sell on it, you are going to be investing hundreds or even thousands of dollars. A cheaper alternative would be to open an eBay store and selling your products there. That way, your only advertising costs will be the monthly charge of running the store, which is $24.95. Even though you pay eBay a commission on each sale, it is still cheaper than having to invest a lot of money into advertising up front and seeing little results.
